Living in Suva, Fiji’s lively capital, was an adventure that stretched across three and a half unforgettable years. My wife and I spent our days exploring some of the hidden corners of the many islands, soaking up the rhythm of island life, and slowly uncovering the traditions that make Fiji so unique. From bustling markets to quiet coastal escapes, Fiji became more than just a place we lived—it was a chapter of discovery.

England is our home and the place we return to between journeys. I grew up in the picturesque town of Torquay, in the county of Devon, renowned for its stunning coastal walks and vibrant tourism. In my twenties, I moved to London—a global hub of finance, culture, and history—celebrated for its iconic landmarks. Today, it stands as one of the most influential and diverse cities in the world.

Today, our travels have brought us to Elbasan, Albania. Just forty minutes from Tirana, this city sits at the heart of the country, making it the perfect base for exploring Albania’s rich tapestry of history and culture. Life here feels both grounded and adventurous—ancient traditions blend with modern rhythms, and every journey begins just outside the doorstep. Learning Albanian has opened doors we never expected, from finding a home to navigating the everyday intricacies of local life.

We spent four unforgettable months in Douala, Cameroon’s vibrant business capital. The city pulsed with energy—markets overflowing with local foods and crafts, the rhythm of music drifting through the streets, and a blend of cultures that made every day feel like a experience that left us with memories we will always treasure.

Relocating to a new country is always exciting, but it comes with challenges. My goal is to help you prepare, overcome obstacles, and even avoid potential difficulties by sharing what I’ve learned firsthand.
